A collection of delicate and light open vessel forms; ether is an ode to the primacy of nature through the primary constituent of our universe. Representing akasha/space, it is first of the five elements, representing a powerful force that confluences two extremes. The tactile and the sensorial. The permanent and the ephemeral. The strong and the fragile. The vessels tribute these contrasting powers of space through their similarity with clay, each capable of withstanding fierce fires and yet be remarkably delicate. They are a reflection of an ability to contain yet allow the freedom from captivity. Each piece bears unique markings created during the process of its making, fusing them despite disparities.

Our world is made up of fragile spaces, that gain strength through their interconnectedness. Using clay in its fluid form, built a layer at a time, these forms explore the concept of connection with oneself. This process of creation allows for unique imprints to be formed during their making and prepares a platform for the next to be built upon. The negative spaces so created, allow for the work to be viewed through the lens of what is, and what isn’t, together forming completeness. Interstices is a journey in exploring one’s inner world. About navigating the spaces between the old and new, expression and suppression, containment and release and multiple other facets, leading to eventual and inevitable self-discovery.
